As an experienced executive, Mr. Avedis "Avo" Tarakjian provides financial and administrative services to nonprofit organizations, their CEO's, and board members. Avo is a 1982 Summa Cum Laude graduate in Accounting from the University of La Verne in California, and has served as CFO or CFAO of several organizations including Aviva Family and Children's Services, Phoenix Houses of California, Lincoln Child (and Family) Center in Oakland, and Vista Del Mar Child & Family Services.
As an executive, Avo materializes an organization's vision on a most practical /actionable level, in a most effective, timely manner through established relationships, interpersonal skills, and technical expertise. Some of the sevices provided include training CFO's/Controllers in managing finances, improving communication with the board and its committees such as Finance, Audit, and Investment, refining financial presentation techniques, improving and clarifying internal controls, bringing clarity/transpareny to financial statements ensuring that CEO's are receiving pertinent, accurate information in a timely fashion enhancing and expediting their decision making abilities... Avo also facilitates contract negotiations with County and State agencies such as CDCR, LACDMH, DCFS, Health Care agencies in different counties including Los Angeles, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Diego, and Orange counties. He provides easy-to-understand, independent financial analyses in major decision making processes such as capital improvements and campaigns, assists in securing financing, conducts feasibility studies of new services and/or the discontinuation of certain others that have become obsolete or detrimental.
